How many books does a book blogger read in a year? Find out with my complete 2019 reading list of every book I read this year.
When exactly did I become some crazy reader?
I used to describe myself as a voracious reader, for I read much more than anyone else I knew. Generally, my reading has seesawed between 50-90 books a year, lower on years I had a baby and higher in the years I didn’t.
Then I became a full-time book blogger (and was done having children).
Now, here I am on the eve of a new decade, and my 2019 Reading List contains 176 books! That’s not including the 19 books I started but didn’t finish.
Curious what I read? Today I’ve got my complete 2019 Reading List just for you. I love going over my reading because I have not mentioned some of these books on the blog yet. Either because I’ve loved them, but they haven’t fit into a book list yet, or because I’ve hated it and have not bothered mentioning it.
Sorry, but writing up descriptions on well over 100 books is not going to happen. Instead, enjoy my star rating of each book in my 2019 reading list, along with a short description.

What were your favorite books on your 2019 reading list?

Your short reviews of each book are superb! I read 75 books last year, at least that’s what I tracked on GoodReads. Your list is impressive and I have already created a To Read list to take with me to the library when it re-opens on January 2. Thank you for adding witty, interesting book notes to my life.

Thanks so much! I try to be witty, though I often fail. I’m glad I succeeded this time.

I read 68 books in 2019, followed your reading challenge but didn’t quite complete it by 2 books. I love your 3-4 word reviews of each book , they are so spot on for the books that I read. Many of the others are on my want to read list. Several of my family members joined in the challenge last year and we’ve added more for this coming year. Can hardly wait!

I’m so glad you loved the Reading Challenge and made it a family activity. That absolutely warms my heart. Thanks for sharing, and best of luck with your 2020 reading!

I ended up reading 318 books this year. Really pleased that I did better quality wise than last year. Love your short succinct comments on each title. Thats’s a skills I need to develop – my posts are always on the wordy side.

318 Books! That’s amazing. And thanks for the compliments. I’m glad every finds my short descriptions clever rather than lazy.

Wow!! That is one awesome crazy roller-coaster of a reading year! Well done, Rachael, and THANK YOU for the gift that are these short descriptions of each book – some of them made me literally snort with laughter, so apt. Looking forward to seeing what you read in 2020! Happy reading!

Sheree, you’re always so sweet. Thanks so much for being such a good blogging friend.

An awesome list and a very effective and interesting format. Helped me make a few adjustments (mainly deletions) as I revisit my overwhelmingly long TBR list! Thank you

You’re welcome. I’m so glad I could help!

Just found this on post on Pinterest and put quite a few on hold on my overdrive app. I have to say though that I really enjoyed Spool of Blue Thread! I know there are lots of reasons for putting down a book, but I guess I like sweeping multi generational family dramas. I just finished the Dutch House where the house is kind of one of the characters—similar to Spool. I don’t have a count for what I read last year because I haven’t been keeping track lately. But I usually go for 52. Just one per week. But I almost always have an audio and a kindle going at the same time.

So I listened to the audiobook for A Spool of Blue Thread, and that undoubtedly played a major role in not finishing it. I’m much more likely to DNF an audiobook than an actual book. I am looking forward to reading The Dutch House.
